European regulators raise concerns about eye stroke risk with GLP-1 drugs
European regulators have raised concerns about nonarteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION), sometimes called an "eye stroke," as a very rare potential side effect of GLP-1 medications like semaglutide and tirzepatide. Studies have shown patients with type 2 diabetes on these drugs have a small increased incidence of the eye disorder.
