Peter Mac scientists develop CRISPR method to target gene fusions in one in five cancers
Scientists at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre have developed a new CRISPR approach using PspCas13b nuclease to precisely target abnormal gene fusions, which occur in approximately 20% of cancers. The technique targets the unique molecular fingerprint created when two genes fuse together, potentially offering a new personalized treatment strategy.
