Thousands protest across Venezuela demanding elections in first nationwide demonstration in nearly two years

Thousands of Venezuelans took to the streets Thursday in the first nationwide opposition protest in nearly two years, demanding free elections and political changes. The demonstrations, led by supporters of opposition leader and Nobel Peace Prize winner Maria Corina Machado, called for presidential elections to be scheduled as early as 2027 and the release of political prisoners, following the capture of former President Nicolas Maduro by US forces.
