Arrowhead Pharmaceuticals' ARO-MAPT shows first evidence of tau protein reduction in Alzheimer's trial
Arrowhead Pharmaceuticals reported interim Phase 1/2a results showing its experimental RNA interference drug ARO-MAPT successfully crossed the blood-brain barrier and reduced levels of tau protein, a key marker implicated in Alzheimer's disease. The subcutaneously administered treatment represents the first RNAi medicine to achieve this effect in the brain, with analysts describing the magnitude of tau reduction as compelling and potentially superior to other blood-brain barrier platforms.
