US hospitals lost over 24,000 beds as closures accelerate in urban and rural areas
A Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health study found the US hospital system has lost more than 24,000 beds in recent years, with urban hospitals closing at roughly the same rate as rural ones, particularly affecting communities with high poverty rates and limited transportation.
