SK Hynix Approves $38 Billion Investment to Build Two New Memory Chip Fabs in South Korea
SK Hynix Inc. announced a 54 trillion won ($38 billion) investment to construct new semiconductor fabrication facilities in Yongin and Cheongju, South Korea, with the Yongin Y2 fab receiving 35.2 trillion won for DRAM production and the Cheongju M17 fab receiving 19.1 trillion won for NAND production. The facilities are targeting cleanroom openings in 2028 and 2029 to meet surging AI memory demand.
