Kenyan police detain hundreds, fire tear gas as protesters mark second anniversary of deadly 2024 demonstrations

Kenyan police arrested more than 350 people and dispersed crowds with tear gas in Nairobi on Thursday as families of victims and demonstrators marked the two-year anniversary of 2024 anti-government protests that killed approximately 60 people. Protesters marched to Parliament demanding compensation and justice for those killed during the original demonstrations against tax hikes and cost of living.
