Abbott settles for $385M over contaminated baby formula allegations
Abbott Laboratories agreed to pay over $384 million to settle allegations it knowingly manufactured infant formula in environments that posed substantial contamination risk, then sold the products without proper testing. Some federal prosecutors believed there was enough evidence for criminal charges, but Justice Department leadership opted for a civil settlement.
