Trump Administration Asks Supreme Court to Restore Mail-Voting Restrictions
The Trump administration asked the U.S. Supreme Court on July 27, 2026, to allow nationwide implementation of an executive order tightening mail-in voting rules ahead of November midterm elections. The request follows lower court rulings blocking the order, including a rebuff from the 1st U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, in response to lawsuits from 23 Democratic-led states arguing that states have constitutional authority over election rules.
