Iron-based MRI contrast agent detects and slows heart scarring in lab-grown tissue
Researchers led by Aitziber L. Cortajarena at CIC biomaGUNE have developed a new iron-based contrast agent for magnetic resonance imaging that can both diagnose and treat cardiac fibrosis. The agent was tested on three-dimensional models of human cardiac tissue using preclinical MRI scanners.
