US bans imports from 43 Chinese companies in largest expansion of Uyghur forced labor blacklist

The US Department of Homeland Security has enacted its largest-ever expansion of the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act Entity List, banning imports from 43 additional Chinese firms starting August 3, 2026. This first expansion under the Trump administration brings the blacklist total to 187 entities. Prominent additions include Hunan Aihua Group and Chacha Food Co. While US officials state the measures protect domestic workers from unfair competition, Beijing has rejected the allegations as lies and economic coercion.

Uyghur Forced Labor Blacklist

▪United States Customs and Border Protection has stopped more than 24,300 shipments valued at nearly $1 billion since the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act listing began.
▪The addition of 43 companies brings the total number of entities on the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act Entity List from 144 to 187.
▪The United States Department of Homeland Security added 43 Chinese companies to the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act Entity List on July 31, 2026.
▪Beginning August 3, 2026, United States Customs and Border Protection will apply a rebuttable presumption that goods produced by the 43 newly listed companies are barred from entering the United States.

Hunan Aihua Group Sanctions

▪Hunan Aihua Group, one of China's largest capacitor manufacturers, was added to the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act Entity List.
▪The United States Department of Homeland Security added Hunan Aihua Group to the list because it believes the company sources chemical foil and other materials from Xinjiang.

Xinjiang Detention Facilities

▪The 43 newly listed companies source materials from Xinjiang or work with the Xinjiang government to recruit and transport Uyghurs and other persecuted groups out of the region.
▪The United States asserts that Chinese authorities have established internment camps and detention facilities for Uyghurs and other religious and ethnic minority groups in the western Xinjiang region.

Trump Administration Trade Policy

▪The July 31, 2026 posting marks the first time companies have been added to the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act Entity List under the Trump administration.
▪The addition of 43 companies represents the largest single expansion of the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act Entity List since the law was signed in December 2021.

Chinese Human Rights Denials

▪A spokesperson for the Chinese embassy in Washington stated that the allegation of forced labor in Xinjiang is a lie and that Chinese law explicitly prohibits forced labor.
