Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. plans to spend an additional $100 billion to expand its US chipmaking capacity, bringing its total investment to $265 billion. The plan, part of a larger deal between Washington and Taipei to bring semiconductor manufacturing to American soil, will fund four new chip plants, according to an unnamed US official. TSMC's eventual US presence will total 10 fabrication plants and two packaging facilities.
