AI chip design startup Cognichip raised $60 million in funding led by Seligman Ventures on April 1, 2026, bringing its total funding to $93 million since founding in 2024. The company is building a deep learning model to assist engineers in designing computer chips, claiming it can reduce development costs by over 75% and cut timelines by more than half in an industry where advanced chips take three to five years from conception to mass production. Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan participated in the round and will join Cognichip's board, lending industry credibility despite the company having no completed chip designs yet as of April 2026. Cognichip faces competition from incumbents Synopsys and Cadence Design Systems, as well as well-funded AI chip design startups like Ricursive ($300M Series A) and ChipAgents ($74M extended Series A).
