To counter this threat, scientists are developing innovative solutions. Researchers at the Ragon Institute successfully engineered peptide add-ons that expand the antibody response of current vaccines to three distinct regions of the parasite's PfCSP protein. Concurrently, the FDA's landmark approval of Moderna's mFlusiva, the first mRNA flu vaccine, has strengthened the outlook for deploying mRNA technology against malaria.
