The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) has launched the Focus Group on Trust and Identity for Humans and Agentic AI to establish global frameworks for autonomous digital actors. As AI agents increasingly act independently, the initiative aims to preserve human control over critical tasks like financial transactions. Co-chaired by Debora Comparin and Amir Banifatemi, the group will develop standards, security criteria, and roadmaps, holding its first meetings in late 2026 and early 2027.
