Anthropic has released Claude Opus 4.8, a more powerful AI coding model. Its creator, Boris Cherny, predicts the "software engineer" title could disappear in 2026 as non-engineers begin to code and roles blend into "builders." While some large firms like Microsoft have dropped the tool over high costs, Cherny calls it a "golden age" for startups, with half of a recent Y Combinator batch using it to write 100% of their code.
