A Nature Health study analyzed 617,827 health-related conversations with Microsoft Copilot, revealing that Health Information and Education queries dominate at 40.8% of interactions, followed by significant platform-specific differences in usage patterns. Mobile users ask more Symptom Questions (15.9% vs 6.9% on desktop) and Emotional Well-being queries (5.1% vs 3.0%), while desktop users focus on Research and Academic Support (16.9% vs 5.3%) and Medical Paperwork (15.7% vs 2.7%). The study found temporal variations with symptom and emotional well-being queries rising from morning to nighttime, and revealed that a substantial fraction of personal health queries serve caregiving rather than individual needs. Microsoft emphasizes that Copilot is not intended to replace professional medical advice.
