Tiananmen Square anniversary suppression

▪China's Foreign Ministry stated the government reached a "clear conclusion" about the "political turmoil that occurred in the late 1980s."

▪Hundreds of people gathered for a commemorative vigil in Taipei, Taiwan, where they observed 64 seconds of silence.
▪Commemorative vigils for the Tiananmen anniversary were also expected to take place in cities in Germany and Australia.

Symbolic diplomatic protests
