Science Corporation has launched its PRIMA retinal implant in Europe after receiving CE mark approval, offering a novel treatment to restore central vision for patients with age-related macular degeneration. The wireless 2x2 mm implant, paired with specialized glasses, successfully restored reading capabilities for 84% of patients in a 38-person clinical trial. While the device is expected to cost hundreds of thousands of dollars, commercial rollouts and reimbursement discussions are underway, starting in Germany.
