Former national security adviser John Bolton pleads guilty to one count of illegally retaining classified national defense information. Under a plea deal with Maryland U.S. Attorney Kelly O. Hayes, Bolton faces up to five years in prison and a $2.25 million fine. The case stems from Bolton sharing over 1,000 pages of diary-like notes containing Top Secret information with his family, which were later accessed by an Iranian-linked hacker. Bolton's sentencing is scheduled for October 28, 2026.
