Meta has launched Content Seal, an invisible watermarking system currently applied to images generated by its Muse model, with video support planned for later. The rollout followed pressure from Meta’s Oversight Board to combat deceptive synthetic media. However, testing cited by the listed sources found that Content Seal failed to detect more than half of cropped Muse-generated images. The system is separate from Google’s SynthID and C2PA Content Credentials, while Meta had not clarified whether it could be applied alongside those systems without interference.
