Google adds flight tracking and hotel booking to AI Mode

Google has expanded its conversational AI Mode search experience with new travel planning tools, allowing users to track flight prices, book hotels, and calculate costs in loyalty points. The flight tracking feature is live in over 180 countries, while hotel booking has begun rolling out in the U.S. in English. Although users complete hotel transactions within Google's interface using Google Pay, partner brands like Booking.com and Marriott remain the merchants of record and handle customer service.

Loyalty points pricing

▪At launch, the loyalty points feature supports Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, American Airlines, Choice Hotels, Hilton, and Wyndham.
▪Google AI Mode can display the cost of flights and hotels in loyalty points or miles, a feature that is available globally.

Partner rollout timeline

▪Participating hotel booking partners rolling out over the coming weeks include Booking.com, Choice Hotels, Expedia, Hilton, Hotels.com, IHG, Marriott, Priceline, Trip.com, and Wyndham.
