Vladimir Tkachuk, the 35-year-old head of sanctioned Russian drone manufacturer Uraldronzavod, was critically injured in a targeted car bombing near Yekaterinburg on August 4, 2026. The blast killed Tkachuk's driver and bodyguard. Tkachuk's company produces the low-cost, jam-resistant "Upyr" FPV drones widely used in Ukraine. The incident marks the second attack on a Russian drone developer in a week, following the shooting of Andrei Cherezov, amid a broader wave of clandestine strikes targeting military figures inside Russia.
