AMD Commits Up to $5 Billion to Anthropic in 2-Gigawatt AI Chip Deal

AMD is investing up to $5 billion in Anthropic as part of a deal to jointly build 2 gigawatts of AI infrastructure using AMD's MI450 Instinct accelerators, with deployment beginning in the first half of 2027. Anthropic will both purchase AMD chips for its own data centers and lease additional capacity. The announcement was made at AMD's Advancing AI 2026 event in San Francisco on July 22, 2026. AMD Helios deployment by Microsoft
