Louisiana Republicans Approve Congressional Map Eliminating Democratic Majority-Black District

Louisiana's state House passed a new congressional map on May 28, 2026, following a U.S. Supreme Court ruling in April 2026 that found Louisiana's map was an unconstitutional racial gerrymander. Tennessee approved a map dismantling a majority-Black district on May 7, 2026. Republicans are poised to gain an edge in as many as 10 House seats nationwide, while Democrats need to flip only three seats to win House majority.
