Pope Leo XIV Condemns 'Delusion of Omnipotence' Fueling US-Israel War on Iran

On April 11, 2026, Pope Leo XIV issued his strongest condemnation yet of the ongoing US-Israel war on Iran, denouncing what he characterized as a 'delusion of omnipotence' driving the conflict and calling on world leaders to reject war as a means of settling differences. The papal statement, marking a significant escalation in Vatican criticism, urged political leaders to pursue negotiated peace and demanded a global commitment to ending hostilities.
