Iran Downs Two US Military Aircraft, Search Underway for Missing Crew Member

Iran shot down two US military aircraft—an F-15 fighter jet and an A-10 Warthog—marking the first such losses since the conflict began, with one crew member rescued after 48 hours and search operations continuing for at least one missing airman. The escalation follows Donald Trump's 48-hour ultimatum demanding Iran reopen the Strait of Hormuz, with Iran responding that the region would become hell for the US if aggression expands. Israel has struck Iranian petrochemical and steel facilities, claiming to have destroyed 70 percent of Iran's weapons-grade steel production capacity, while Iran's foreign minister warned the UN that attacks on nuclear sites risk radioactive contamination across the region. Pakistan, Turkey, and Egypt are mediating ceasefire talks as the conflict disrupts global energy markets, with crude oil prices soaring due to the chokehold on Strait of Hormuz shipping.
