Cloudflare Launches Programmable Stablecoin Wallets and Identity System for AI Agents

On August 4, 2026, Cloudflare launched Cloudflare Wallets and the cloudflare.pay identity system to enable autonomous agentic commerce. The programmable wallets allow AI agents to pay for APIs and digital content using stablecoin micropayments via the x402 protocol. To prevent runaway spending, human owners manage funds in Account Wallets and set strict guardrails—such as spending caps and merchant allowlists—on Virtual Wallets. Cloudflare is partnering with Visa, Mastercard, and American Express to build trusted payment rails for this emerging machine-to-machine economy.
