Ripple released a four-phase roadmap to make the XRP Ledger quantum-resistant by 2028, positioning itself ahead of Bitcoin and Ethereum on quantum security timelines. The plan addresses warnings that quantum computers could reverse-engineer private keys from exposed public keys, with analysts suggesting 2029 as Q-day for quantum threats. XRP, the world's fourth-largest digital asset, faces particular vulnerability for long-term holders whose public keys are already exposed on the blockchain. The roadmap includes emergency measures in Phase 1, vulnerability assessment and NIST-standard testing in Phase 2 (first half 2026), integration of quantum-resistant signatures in Phase 3 (second half 2026), and full deployment by 2028 in Phase 4. Ripple partnered with Project Eleven for testing and is exploring zero-knowledge proofs to enable safe fund migration without revealing private keys.
