Intel announced Tuesday it will partner with Elon Musk to design and build the Terafab AI chip manufacturing facility in Austin, Texas, marking a major collaboration in the semiconductor industry. The facility will supply AI chips to Musk's companies including SpaceX, which recently merged with xAI, and Tesla. Musk requires these chips to power ambitious plans for a robot army featuring self-driving cars and humanoid robots, as well as data centers planned for space deployment. The partnership comes as SpaceX prepares for an initial public offering later in 2025, positioning the Terafab project as critical infrastructure for Musk's expanding AI-driven technology empire.
