A gunman killed a Canadian woman and injured six others at Mexico's Teotihuacan pyramids on Monday before dying of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Four victims suffered gunshot injuries while two were injured from falls at the archaeological site, one of Mexico's most popular tourist destinations and an important pre-Hispanic cultural center in Mesoamerica. President Claudia Sheinbaum ordered a full investigation and Mexican officials are coordinating with the Canadian embassy while deploying additional security personnel to the site. The attack comes less than two months before Mexico co-hosts the FIFA World Cup with the United States and Canada, and follows widespread violence across Mexico in February after the killing of Jalisco New Generation Cartel leader Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, known as El Mencho.
