China's artificial intelligence startup DeepSeek is planning a massive gigawatt-scale data center in Ulanqab, Inner Mongolia. The Hangzhou-based company aims to build its own facility and lease capacity from others to establish one gigawatt of compute. Located 350 kilometers northwest of Beijing, Ulanqab is emerging as an infrastructure hub with more than a dozen firms planning projects there, highlighting DeepSeek's ambitions to compete with Silicon Valley leaders.
