Blockchain.com Receives Full VASP Custody License from Cayman Islands Monetary Authority

On July 22, 2026, Blockchain.com's Cayman Islands subsidiary secured a definitive Virtual Asset Service Provider custody license from the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority. Replacing a December 2025 conditional approval, the license permits regulated custody, staking, and exchange services. Blockchain.com also partnered with TechCayman to hire its first local employee. This milestone follows European MiCA and UK FCA approvals as parent company Blockchain.com Group Holdings prepares for a potential U.S. IPO.

CIMA VASP custody license approval

▪Prior to receiving the definitive license, Blockchain.com had operated under a Virtual Asset Service Provider registration in the Cayman Islands since May 2022.
▪The Cayman Islands Monetary Authority license authorizes Blockchain.com to provide virtual asset custody, crypto-to-fiat exchange, and crypto-to-crypto exchange services.
▪The definitive Virtual Asset Service Provider license replaces a conditional approval issued to Blockchain.com by the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority in December 2025.

▪Blockchain.com's institutional custody services will provide secure digital asset storage for organizations managing cryptocurrency holdings from its Cayman Islands entity.

Retail staking services

▪The Cayman Islands regulatory framework also includes retail staking services, allowing eligible individual users to access staking within a compliant environment.
▪Individual clients of Blockchain.com can verify which legal entity their account sits under to confirm if the Cayman Islands subsidiary offers them staking services.

Multi-jurisdiction regulatory milestones

▪Blockchain.com's Cayman Islands license follows other recent regulatory milestones, including obtaining a Markets in Crypto-Assets license in Europe and registering with the UK Financial Conduct Authority.
