OpenAI has closed a record-breaking $122 billion funding round at an $852 billion valuation, marking Silicon Valley's largest financing ever, co-led by SoftBank and Andreessen Horowitz with participation from previous backers Microsoft, Amazon, and Nvidia. The company is generating over $2 billion in monthly sales as of March 2026, serving more than 900 million weekly active users and 50 million subscribers, with enterprise customers now representing 40% of revenue compared to 30% a year earlier. Nearly $3 billion came from retail investors through bank channels, and ARK Investment Management will include OpenAI in its ETFs ahead of an anticipated IPO later this year. OpenAI recently shut down its Sora video application to focus on productivity tools and announced plans for a developer-focused superapp integrating ChatGPT and agentic offerings.
