Former National Security Adviser John Bolton agreed to plead guilty to one count of retaining classified information and pay a $2.25 million fine, with prison time capped at five years. Bolton was indicted in October 2025 on 18 counts for sharing top secret information with family members while preparing his 2020 memoir. Re-arraignment is scheduled for June 26, 2026 in federal court in Greenbelt, Maryland. Bolton served as Trump's third national security adviser before being fired in 2019.
