Following a four-month war with the US and Israel, Iranian Ambassador Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli announced that Iran and Oman will impose new service fees on ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz. Friendly nations, specifically China, will receive preferential fee treatment. While the US and Gulf Arab nations reject any fees, European nations view them as inevitable but urge non-discrimination. China, which buys almost all of Iran's oil, has called for unhindered shipping flow to protect its economy.
