Trump administration expands federal education-spending flexibility to six more states

The Trump administration is accelerating efforts to decentralize federal education by proposing a sweeping deregulation of the national Head Start program and granting funding waivers to multiple states. While officials argue these actions restore local flexibility, reduce administrative burdens, and will expand student enrollment, critics and early childhood educators warn that rolling back federal standards for teacher-student ratios, health services, and disability support will compromise child safety and lower educational quality.

Head Start deregulation proposal

Teacher-child ratio requirements
