Securitize has partnered with Computershare, the world's largest transfer agent serving 58% of S&P 500 companies including Nvidia, Tesla, and Apple, to enable public companies to issue blockchain-based shares called Issuer-Sponsored Tokens. The agreement potentially brings $70 trillion in U.S. equities onchain while allowing tokenized shares to exist alongside traditional securities with identical rights and economics. The partnership enables 10,000 U.S. public companies to offer shares that can be lent and borrowed on-chain through Computershare's Direct Registration System. Miami-based Securitize, backed by BlackRock and responsible for the asset manager's $2.6 billion BUIDL tokenized fund, has distributed $4.3 billion in assets across 15 blockchains since 2017 and recently partnered with the New York Stock Exchange for round-the-clock securities trading.
