Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has outlined a sweeping vision for the network's evolution by 2030, describing its transition from a traditional blockchain into a hybrid "cryptographic world computer." The upcoming Hegotá upgrade, scheduled for 2027, is projected to be the network's final "normal" fork. Subsequent upgrades will rely on recursive STARKs, SNARK proofs, and PeerDAS data sampling to allow nodes to verify transactions without repeating calculations, significantly reducing hardware demands and lowering slot times to 4 to 8 seconds.
