Optical networking startup Lumilens has emerged from stealth with over $900 million in total funding, including a $700 million Series C round co-led by Bain Capital Ventures and Spark Capital that values the company at $5.51 billion. Led by CEO Ankur Singla, the startup aims to replace performance-limited copper data center wires with high-speed optical interconnects. Lumilens has already begun shipping equipment to an unnamed hyperscale cloud provider under a deal it claims is worth billions.
