Ukraine agrees to spare eligible tankers and Kazakhstan oil export infrastructure

Following pressure from the U.S. Trump administration, Ukraine agrees to halt strikes on non-Russian oil tankers and Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) infrastructure in the Black Sea. The CPC terminal, which handles 2% of global crude, is vital for Kazakh oil exports to Europe. While Ukraine establishes communication channels to protect eligible commercial vessels, it continues its intense drone campaign against Russia's shadow fleet, reportedly striking 12 vessels in early August 2026 under Operation Molochka.

Black Sea tanker agreement
