Study finds omega-3 and low-dose aspirin combination as effective as antibiotics for severe periodontitis
A clinical trial of 109 patients with advanced periodontitis found that a combination of omega-3 and low-dose aspirin is as effective as standard antibiotics. Approximately 57.7% of patients receiving the supplement combination met the clinical goal of having no more than four deep periodontal pockets, compared to 58% in the antibiotic group and 23.1% in the placebo group. The benefits persisted for six months post-treatment, offering a promising alternative to preserve antibiotics.
